I met up with Baby Maximus and his family in Victoria Park in Bath one sunny afternoon in June.  Their shoot was a Christmas gift in the form of a Portrait Voucher which they very sensibly waited for some nicer weather to use.  It was a very hot day which creates some good sunny photographs but the brightness does need to be handled with care in terms of photography.  I choose to shoot in shady areas where possible (as you can see this does not result in dark images, contrary to popular belief) and I shoot into the sun so my subjects don’t need to face it and squint.  Anyway, the photoshoot was a lot of fun although Maximus wasn’t gracing us with too many smiles despite huge efforts from everyone involved to try and make him laugh….. but that’s how unpredictable it can be working with children.  I like to think I captured many of his thought provoking expressions instead – probably whilst he was trying to work out why everyone was dancing around pulling funny faces at him.
