Tom contacted me to ask for a set of natural and relaxed portraits for social media use. He admitted he is uncomfortable infront of the camera and would need some help to conquer this. I hear this often and don’t think anyone finds it really easy to be themselves infront of the camera. I know I much prefer to be behind it. I help clients overcome this by genuinely having fun with them. I don’t really have any tricks, just take a genuine interest in the people I meet. I can be fairly chatty and so we walk and we talk and we laugh and joke. I never want clients to feel they have to pose for shots, it’s important for them to feel free to move naturally and let me take photos when I need to. It really is the best way to have your photograph taken. I’ll show clients some examples of how it’s going on the back of the camera and they are often surprised how good they look which in turn boosts their confidence to get even better shots. Tom brought with him three changes of outfit so the images are really varied and suitable for a few different uses which is great.
