Many couples opt to start the photography coverage of their wedding day in the morning with photographs of the bridal prep. There’s something especially intimate about this part of the day, it’s like getting special access to behind the scenes. I’m witnessing and documenting nerves and emotions building, genuinely lovely close moments between a bride and her bridesmaids/sister/mother/father. There’s something about the ritual of it all that I like. The quiet application of makeup, the neat styling of hair, the careful placement of each item of jewellery, unfurling the tissue paper from around the new shoes, the little gifts and notes that are given and received so often on a wedding morning… all of it woven with normal hum-drum occurrences such as Saturday Morning Kitchen on the TV, a breakfast show playing on the radio in the background and phones beeping with text messages and pings of notifications. It’s recognisable normality in parts but it’s so far from normality at the same time because a wedding morning is a really big deal, it’s the start of one of the biggest days of your life so there’s a sense of expectation in the air that’s almost tangible. It’s so great to be a part of it and often gives me chills of excitement as I capture these special moments. Here’s a few memorable moments of wedding mornings that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing:
I photograph weddings in a modern and creative way but I always aim to shoot discretely and respectfully. I cover Bath, Bristol and the surrounding areas in the South West. To see more of my work you can browse my Blog or view my Wedding Portfolio.
