During the summer of 2013 Natalie and Andy got married in Bristol. A delightfully sunny wedding as all summer weddings definitely should be but sadly too few are here in the UK! Anyway, they got lucky with the weather which was great as their festival style Tipi wedding reception could have been a complete washout otherwise. I remember being in a bit of a panic that morning which is unusual for me. I leave double the travel time needed to get to weddings just incase of traffic issues or road closures – this has always got me there in plenty of time – this time though it wasn’t quite long enough much to my horror! The Bristol Balloon Fiesta was on, the busiest day of the fiesta was also their wedding day and roads and motorways around Bristol were not moving. Gridlock. Me and many of the wedding guests just couldn’t get through. Cue panic, extra sweat on an already hot day and the most nerve racking journey to a wedding I’ve ever experienced…. anyway, I made it! With 10 minutes to spare before Natalie’s arrival at the Church. Phew! Luckily the rest of the day was straightforward and thoroughly enjoyable after such a difficult start. Their wonderful church ceremony included a special musical treat from two of their friends then everyone headed to Natalie’s parent’s house for the reception. I remember meeting her parents a few months before, they were working hard gardening in preparation for the wedding and their hard work really paid off. Such a large beautiful garden to host a wedding reception, it looked glorious! The décor was so well thought out, I remember the tipi all decorated with their blue and white wedding colours, pretty decorations, lights and lanterns hanging from the trees – they even had blue and white m&ms with their names on (cute!). I remember the very funny speeches (a few embarrassing stories came out) and Natalie and Andy looking totally smitten with each other on their special day.
