“When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and White, you photograph their souls!” ― Ted Grant
I remember this couple well, after shooting their wedding at the Manor House Hotel. They had a really intense, really passionate connection between them! Putting them together for their couples shots after their wedding ceremony in Castle Combe resulted in them instantly flirting with one another. Trying not to feel like the ‘gooseberry’ in this situation I set to work trying to capture it on camera. There’s something really powerful about the Bride’s glance at me, full of confidence with her fist on her husband’s chest taking ownership of him. Meanwhile, he’s clearly mesmerised by her, so lost in the moment he feels comfortable enough to close his eyes. It really says so much about them as a couple and black and white processing was an obvious choice for this classic shot.
