I was very flattered when Josh contacted me asking me to photograph his wedding to Jo in Guildford. I’d met Josh before as I was the wedding photographer at the wedding of Abi & Will (Abi is Josh’s sister) so it was great to see him and his family again. Like the last family wedding this was another winter wedding with a church ceremony, this time at St Saviour’s in Guildford and an evening reception at The Angel Hotel. I met up with Jo and the girls that morning to photograph some of the bridal prep. It’s a part of the day I enjoy documenting, full of excitement and anticipation of the day ahead. Jo looked beautiful in her dress and striking blue high heels, as did the bridesmaids in their electric blue dresses. St Saviour’s is a great church from a photography perspective as it’s spacious and bright, it was filled that day with approximately 300 guests attending the ceremony, the biggest wedding I’ve shot to date. Josh was there with the support of his ushers, keeping a handle on the nerves quite successfully I felt. Unfortunately just as Jo exited the car the heavens opened but she was more than prepared with a pretty bridal umbrella to protect her. The ceremony was thought provoking and interesting… as were the speeches afterwards with many personal touches. More chatting, tea and cake later and it was off to The Angel for a quick portrait session with Jo and Josh before their guests arrived and dinner was served. Jo and Josh I wish you every happiness in your marriage together and I think you make a lovely couple. Thanks for inviting me to be part of your special day.
