It was great to catch up with Vic and Dan, a lovely couple who pop back to me now and again to update their family photographs. I first met them quite a few years ago when I shot their wedding in Bath, after that I photographed their baby girl Jessica as a newborn and a few more years on I met up with them to photograph their new baby boy called Benjamin before they packed up everything and moved their lives to France. They promise me they’ll be back again at some point and I wonder if there will be a 5th member of the family to photograph then? Seeing couples grow into families is certainly one of the best bits of my job, then getting to see the children growing up and changing is equally as wonderful. The weather was warm enough for the shoot to take place outside, infact it was in the middle of a heatwave so it was a little too hot for comfort. I took a few different groups and pairings for them to make sure everyone was photographed fully then spent some time doing a few more shots of new arrival baby Ben. This casual photography set up works so well with children and adults alike because everyone feels they can fully relax. Relaxing into a shoot is important so I can capture real connection and emotion in the interactions between family members. Anyway, here’s a few of my favourites from that day, welcome to the world baby Benjamin – you have a big sister and two parents who totally adore you!
